I'm looking into where I can do some volunteer work. My first choice, at the moment, is an animal shelter -- perhaps I can be one of the volunteers who comes and walks the dogs. :) I think this would be fun, especially since I can't have a dog in my current apartment, and it will give me something to do that is OUTSIDE of my apartment, and will only cost me gas money. AND, perhaps I'll meet some new peeps.
Here's a link to the Animal Humane Society - in case you're interested too.

I'm also looking into soup kitchens I can volunteer at, and senior centers/homes where I could read to someone (or something like that).
We'll see what I find and what I can fit into my schedule.
I have an appointment for dog training - to volunteer with the dogs - at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in early May - that was the soonest I could get ... especially since they let me sign up for, what I thought was the 5th of January but was really a December 5th, 2015 time slot ON DECEMBER 24TH 2015. Yeah...I felt a bit like a bonehead when I walked in for the appointment I thought I had today (1/5/16). I'm fairly confident they won't remember me for that in April. Haha... :)

My perspective isn't great...

This man.
This man, I truly feel, will able to affect change ... positive change ... desperately needed change ... #feelthebern
Pray for Peace.
And another bit of terrorism - attacks in Paris on Friday November 13th - killing innocents. (Not to mention the continued problems in Syria, Turkey, all of the Middle East, Beirut, Baghdad ... )
Seriously, what fucking world do we live in?
People killing.
People cutting down rain forests.
People polluting the oceans.
People without equality.
Racism.
Sexism.
Global warming.
New technology at a ridiculous speed.
#firstworldproblems not paying attention to REAL WORLD PROBLEMS.
My heart and soul hurt.
How can I help? What can I do? How can I affect change?

November: A Moment of Gratitude A Day
November 30th
For health insurance.
November 29th
For interest in things other than what's right in front of me ... to learn ... to travel ... to question ... to debate ... to agree sometimes and not others ... to know the world is bigger than me!

November 28th
The beach! Sand in toes. Calming repetition of the waves. The smell of the sea. Sounds of gulls. Peace & tranquility!
November 27th
For crafting with family!
November 26th
Silly as it sounds, I'm super thankful for my warm bed full of pillows and squishy blankets ... oh the cuddling and snuggling.
November 25th
Thankful for the fact that I live in a time where I can actually contemplate having a baby even though I can't seem to find "Mr. Right" and begin a family the "traditional way." Not sure what the future might hold ... but I've always been a mom on the inside, and I really hope to be able to fulfill that feeling.

November 24th
I'm utterly grateful for being born in a country where I do not need to flee from bombs falling out of the sky for my safety...and wish we lived in a world where everyone had the same privilege...pray for peace, to whatever God you believe in...and do what you can to make that wish a reality.
November 23rd
Thankful to be given the opportunity to try my hand teaching an acting class at a local University. A totally different kind of theatrical experience ... interesting, and something I think I could do - but only if they were actual majors (most of my class is taking it to fulfill an "easy" Gen. Ed. credit ... sigh).
November 22nd
Food. Not only am I thankful that I can put food on my table (in my body), but I'm thankful for the fact that a.) my mom taught me how to cook (and I do it well), and b.) that my dad instilled in me the desire to "try everything once" ... mmmm!
November 21st
Thanks for the great weather today, it allowed me to do two headshot photo shoots ... outdoors, without freezing, and with great lighting! :)
November 20th
My cozy warm bed ... snuggling up under the covers with a bunch of pillows ... sometimes it's the truly simply luxuries!
November 19th
Music. I'm thankful for music ... for the ability it has to comfort, excite, engage, meditate, party, relax, dance, etc...
November 18th
I'm thankful that one of the (few) perks of my job, allows me the ability to see a number of national touring productions at an extremely discounted price.

November 17th
Thankful for random acts of kindness! A friend sent me a little penguin bracelet "just because." More people should do good on the daily.
November 16th
Nature. So much thanks for all that nature holds. And a special, fall thanks, to living in the Great North East, and getting to watch the change of season in all it's glory.
November 15th
Technology. While I don't love every aspect of the constant advancements in technology, I am utterly thankful for some of them. Most specifically, the ability to FaceTime (Skype etc...)...which allowed me to SEE and talk with my family while I lived overseas (including my brand new - at the time - niece)!
November 14th
Best Friends. They're the best, yuck yuck yuck. But really, they are ... those people who, no matter how much time or distance separates you, they're always there for you. #bestfriends And my luck, genuine good fortune, to have several ... Susan, Janelle, Meagan, Maheah, Lisette, Arlene, Kaitlin ... LOVE my besties!
November 13th
Thanks for my many wonderful cousins, and the amazing relationships I have with them.
November 12th
I'm extremely thankful for all of the family vacations my parents ensured we had as children. Traveling to see what this beautiful country holds (both in history and in geography). The time spent as a family in the car. The knowledge that came with all if it ... that the world is a big and wonderful place.
November 11th
On Veterans Day, it only seems right (not that it's the only day that one should be thankful for them), to thank all those men and women who have served this country - and who are still serving - ensuring Freedom for all U.S. Citizens.
November 10th
Though it might sound odd, I am thankful for the ability to read, and the love (instilled by my folks, especially my Mum) of reading. I LOVE getting lost in a good book ... and am supremely thankful that I can. *Additional thanks that Libraries exist ... for those moments when I can't afford to buy another book. LOL
November 9th
Siblings. They're pretty great! I'm supremely thankful that I wasn't an only child...that I had playmates in the house (and at times boxing mates) growing up, who helped mold me into the human I am today. How else would I have fallen in love with Pearl Jam if not for my big bro?!
November 8th
I've made some amazing friends in this life (so far - and with a life in theatre I hope to keep them coming)...and I am thankful for each and everyone of them. Friends are a blessing - shoulders to cry on, ears to listen, folks to grab a drink with ... and I am lucky to say that I have many (around the globe), and a good number of BFF's too boot. From my high school to college to real world to grad school and back to the real world ... #friendshipsnearandfar
November 7th
Here's to being awed by space ... by the stars, the moon, the fact there are many universes out there ... and to the fact that we (humans) don't have all the answers to what space holds.
November 6th
It's quite a feet, in this day and age, to make a living in the arts -- truly. Today I want to express my gratitude for having a job, one that is in my field, and one that allows me (mostly) to survive.
November 5th
Today I want to give thanks for all the adventures I have had thus far ... the fact that I have travelled near and far ... the different cultures I have immersed myself in (be it for a few weeks, a month or more) ... and the things that I have learned on all of these adventures.

Today I'd like to give thanks for my two beautiful, and beautifully different, nieces. My relationship with each of them is the same but different, amazing, cherished, and something I can honestly say I couldn't live without! Love them so! And thankful for the unconditional love they give me!
Among other things, today I am grateful for hugs, and for those who give them when they are needed! Physical contact is a very important part of the human experience!
November 2nd
Today I am feeling grateful to have the ability to put a roof over my head, food in my stomach and clothes on my back. Everyone should be able to provide for themselves.
November 1st
I am extremely grateful to my parents for always letting me be me, allowing me to follow my passions - and helping me when I needed while doing so (and in so many different ways of "help"). They have taught me so much during my 36 years (so far) on this planet. If only everyone had parents like mine!
