Standing In Opposition
When history writes about this - horrifying - time, make sure you're counted among those who can say - THIS IS WHAT I DID IN PROTEST. This is what I did to help. This is what I did to combat the forces of evil attempting to take over the White House and the Nation.
So far:
I've signed petitions (so many petitions).
I've made phone calls to State and National Politicians.
I've been a part of the #womensmarch in Albany.
I've written, and mailed, letters to my state Senators (Charles Schumer and Kristen Gellibrand; and Congressman Tonko).
I've emailed my state Senators.
I plan on attending the March On Washington (or in Albany if I can't make it in DC) and the Scientists March on Washington as well (or, again, in Albany if I can't make it in DC).
I will continue to attend protests and rallies to fight for the rights of all, and the greatness that already exists in this nation.

I will not be silent.
I will not sit back and watch as he destroys all that this nation truly stands for.
I will fight.
Today I took one small step in that fight. Cities across the world held Marches - to coincide with with "Women's March on Washington." Today I marched in Albany, NY - with my mother and a good friend - and while I was there, I saw many other friends, and the posts of many more (around the globe).
Today I feel some comfort knowing that so many will not just sit idly by. Here are a few pictures from today.

Oh yeah...and, while this is going on, I take a bit of solace that I am in rehearsals for a piece called 'Petticoats of Steel' which is all about Women's Suffrage (and equal rights for all)!

January's Recipe: Spicy Tuna Rice Burger
Spicy Tuna Rice Burger with Avocado and a Nori Wrap!
Spicy Tuna Rice Burger
Cook white rice.
Mix together:
2 cups tuna (I used 2 cans of albacore tuna)
3 tbsp. mayo (I used what I had left)
1 tbsp. sesame oil
1 1/2 tsp. chili oil
1/2 tsp. white pepper (I didn't have white pepper so I just left if out, though I think you could use any kind of pepper if you wanted too)
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 scallions - chopped
Form a round "bun" out of rice -- do this by placing rice in a small plastic wrap lined ramekin, and press it firmly together.
Remove rice bun and place in a pan with tbsp. of sesame oil and cook (you’ll need 2 of these to make one burger).
Using a pastry brush, brush the side of the rice bun not on the pan with sesame oil, and then with soy sauce ... flip and do the other side with soy sauce (repeat a few times, until it’s “done”).
Remove from pan and place the lower half of one rice buns on the edge of a sheet of seaweed (nori).
Place tuna, a few slices of avocado and some Sriracha sauce on it, and then place the second bun on tope.
Fold the seaweed up and around the bottom half of the burger.
Enjoy.
