April
Snow has melted
The grass is greening up
The days are longer and warmer
Ah, spring!
29. Acrostic Poem
Leaving on an adventure today
Over the ocean I will fly
No one to travel with
Don't need anyone but myself
Onto my other home I go
Next stop London Town!
28. Tanka
Strolling through the field
Birds, bees and butterfly's hum
The sounds of summer.
The greens are never greener
Unless you're in Ireland.
27. Cinquain
Raining
The sky turned grey
Thunder and lightning dance
The scent of the ozone is strong
Water
26. Haiku
What could be cuter?
Swimming, sliding, waddling here...
Penguins everywhere!
25. Haiku
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Baking in the oven, yum...
Warm gooey centers.
24. Blank Verse
Small are we, living in this universe.
Some speculate on our significance.
Important are we, who inhabit the earth.
Careful we should be, what we pass on down.
If you're feeling superior, breath deep...
Glance upon the wonder of the moon, space
In its vastness one can't help but feel small.
Important though we are, small we remain
In the grand scheme of the grand universe.
23. Haiku
The scent of lilacs
Soaking in the warm suns rays
'Neath the apple tree.
22. Acrostic Poem
Always chasing the dream
Creativity bursting forth
Reality never getting in the way
Only the strong remain
Staying the path
Tackling the obstacles as they arrive
It takes guts
Chasing the dream!
21. Haiku
One day I will learn
Not to express what I feel
Always someone else.
20. Cinquain
Penguins
In tuxedos
Waddling to and fro
Slipping and sliding on the ice
Too cute!
19. Pantoum
Soaking in the noonday sun
In the field I lay
Watching all the clouds go by
Listening to the peepers peeping
In the field I lay
This unweeded garden
Listening to the peepers peeping
The throng of life all around
This unweeded garden
Watching all the clouds go by
The art of nature in all directions
Soaking in the noonday sun
18. Senryu Poem (same structure as a Haiku...?!)
Feet warm in the sand
While waves crash upon the shore
Soaking in the sun.
17. Tyburn Poem
Glaring
Daring
Staring
Baring
Staring, glaring, he sits. Eyes transfixed
With a bit of daring, baring fear.
16. Happy Birthday Haiku
Eighty-five years strong.
Lessons taught and lessons learned.
Marguerite Raskopf.
15. Haiku (again)
Another Haiku,
Writing poetry takes time,
Hamlet opens soon.
12, 13, 14 Haikus
What a life we have.
A journey that never stops.
Every day is new.
Imagination.
Creations filled with mistakes.
What a joy art is.
A mans presence here.
I breath him in, like the air.
Passion filled kisses.
11.Blank Verse
Oh what dreams may come, said I to the air.
My heart races fast, but not quite as quick
As my mind doth spin. Would that he were mine--
A bit of luck could land him at my door.
Trends past have ingrained the skeptic in me,
To see me, want me and chase after me...
The idea that one could love me truly
Is an idea I can not seem to grasp.
10. Another Free Verse
A yawn bursts forth
From a lovely young thing
And catching her eye, he gives her a grin.
Her eyes dart to the floor
And her cheeks blush...
Never has she wanted him more.
9. Another Limerick
There once was an obnoxious old troll,
With the face of a little grey mole.
He'd stomp all around,
Down into the ground,
Not giving a wit for his sole(s).
7 & 8 Two Haiku's
Your eyes look through me.
A body of passion filled.
Would I die for you?
A flower petal
Drying on the windowsill,
Perfection is real.
6. Ottava Rima
What I wouldn't give to have someone to hold.
Someone to hold by day or by night,
At times when I'm cold,
Or when I've been given a fright.
It would feel like I'd won the Olympic Gold,
A thing I'd hold onto really quite tight.
Perhaps one day I'll have what I desire,
Maybe even before I retire.
5. Horation Ode
A penguin would make a really fine pet.
Get some ice and some fish,
And you would be set.
I do not jest, but really do wish,
For one of these guys in their black and white habit.
Who wouldn't love their waddle so cute?
It's not even sad that they can not fly,
'Cause wouldn't you know they've got knees, dagnabit.
These joints help them maneuver about...and into the water they shoot.
Just think about seeing, at the edge of a pool, my cute little penguin and I?!
4. Free Verse
My love is where?
Given easily and freely to those for whom I care.
Given easily and freely to those for whom I care.
My light -- the other half of me?
My life -- the 'half' I long to share with thee.
My ... self ... alone.
Alone and lonely but not unloved.
My heart yearns,
My mind burns with a fire of desire,
To want...
To hold...
3. A Limerick
There was a young gal with hair white as snow.
Who told of a wee traveling show.
It had a penguin,
Who liked to drink gin,
And 'oddly' this made the bird slow.
2. A Haiku
A world without art
Is a world we should all fear,
Imagination!
1. A Tanka Poem
Flowers are blooming.
Spring may really be coming.
Are those birds I hear?
The days hold sunlight longer.
Soon I'll wear my sun dresses.
